About Merlin
A Lifelong Connection with Animals
Merlin grew up on a small coastal farm in West Wales, where his passion for animals and the outdoors began. When he’s not treating patients, you’ll often find him helping on the family farm, down at the local beaches, surfing or sailing or tending his allotment.
Sport has also played a major role in Merlin’s life, and it was a sporting injury as a teenager, where he subsequently visited an Osteopath that first inspired his interest in Osteopathy.
Merlin is a fully qualified Osteopath who completed his Master’s degree in Osteopathy (MOst) in 2021. He is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy as well as the International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT).
During his four years of study and subsequent clinical practice, Merlin has successfully treated a wide range of both acute and chronic conditions. He has developed a particular interest in addressing neck pain and headaches, using a broad range of Osteopathic techniques, including soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation, and manipulation. Merlin treats both humans and animals, with a focus on providing effective care tailored to each individual.
Expanding into Animal Osteopathy
In his first year of practice, Merlin completed a Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) in Animal Osteopathy at the Osteopathic Centre for Animals in Wantage. Under the guidance of renowned Osteopaths Stuart McGregor, Hannah Lawrence, and Jim Hurden, he gained hands-on experience treating a wide variety of horses and dogs — from Labrador puppies and miniature Shetlands to world-class agility dogs, racehorses, and Shires.
Since qualifying, Merlin has expanded his practice to include other animals such as cats, rabbits, and sheep, and continues to develop his skills and experience in animal osteopathy.
